Broadband Pyro-Electric Infrared Area Detector, 2-14um
This broadband IR area detector has a sensor size of 320 x 240 pixels and a spectral range of 2-14 μm. The pixel size is 48.5μm square. The sensor is an uncooled pyroelectric BST (Barium, Strontium, Titanate) array. Because of the nature of pyroelectric sensors, there is an internal Archimedes spiral chopper that recalibrates the image. However, this calibration system, called an Auto Image Calibration, is actually a benefit for the user. The detector self calibrates to a reference 60 times per second, which in turn causes the system to be extremely stable and to have very little fixed pattern noise.

Sciencetech's proprietary wideband detector design comes packaged in our standard "hockey puck" enclosure (2" diameter x 1" high) and is connectorized to be powered directly from the Stanford SR-810/830 type lock-in amplifiers,

The detector WILL saturate on the visible light from the lamp. After alignment, cover the entire input opening of the detector head with thin black polyethylene to prevent undesired visible light from overloading the detector.
This detector is suitable for direct connection to Stanford SR-830 lockin preamp power. When using the Stanford lock-in, the signal overload indicator will light just before the detector saturates.The SCIDTGS-PE detector is suitable for testing FTIR alignment and material transmission measurements without special cooling.
Upon installation, the optical system MUST be re-aligned to image the iris of the light source onto the detector element. This may require rotating the entire detector head to an optimum position and/or adjusting mirrors and re-focusing.

(MCT-10-010-E-LN) Detector - MCT Cryogenic Receiver, LN2 cooled - 1x1mm
This single element detector is effective at sensing wavelengths between 2,000nm and 12,000nm. Please note that it is available in various sizes and includes a dewar to hold liquid nitrogen (to lower dark current and improved signal to noise). To operate this detector, a supply of liquid nitrogren is required. As with most IR detectors, MCT detectors are coupled to AC preamplifiers which means they detect only changes in light levels. Generally the light signal being detected is modulated with a chopper or the source itself is modulated, such as a pulsed laser source. When using a chopper to modulate the input signal generally a lock-in amplifier is used to demodulate the signal. The output signal from the MCT is an analog signal available through a BNC on the back of the detector housing. Since the signal is analog, an optional 12-bit or 16-bit data acquistion system and software is available (sold separately).
This MCT detector includes a preamplier. This system also requires a power supply (sold separately, compatible with PS-1/LIA [590-0106] or PS-1 [590-0006] when another lock in amplifier is used).
To connect this detector to a Sciencetech monochromator use the cryogenic detector mount P/# 125-8016
