Single Channel Detector

Sciencetech supplies and integrates a wide variety of single channel detectors. Detectors vary by a number of important parameters.

 

Detector Material and Spectral Region:

Semiconductor-type detectors are sensitive to the spectral region matched to the bandgap energy of the semiconductor. This means that detectors of different material types are sensitive to different wavelength regions.

 

Temperature Control:

Some detectors can be temperature controlled or require cryogenics such as liquid helium or liquid nitrogen in order to be operable.

 

AC or DC Coupling:

Some detectors are photoconductors and require modulated light in order to detect a signal. These types of detectors are listed as AC-coupled. Generally, for AC-coupled detectors, a lock-in amplifier (LIA) or demodulator is required before measurements can be performed.

This product consists of the Sciencetech SOL-METER and our SSIVT-REF sun calibrated reference detector. The SOL-METER is a digital meter for use with select solar calibrated detectors. The meter converts detector measurements to a Sun value. This handheld meter is compact, has a sturdy design, and is appropriate for indoor or outdoor applications.

The Sciencetech Reference Detector, SSIVT-REF, which is an integral part of solar simulator calibration and solar cell I-V characterization, consists of a single element silicon detector and is designed to be used for monitoring and verifying the Sun level of solar simulators. The SSIVT-REF detector is used effective in sensing wavelengths between 190 nm and 1100 nm and is calibrated at Sciencetech against a NIST traceable calibrated reference cell. It does not have the capability for temperature measurement.

The SOL-METER is also compatible with detector model SOL-REF-Q. For temperature measurement in addition to irradiance measurements, please see the SOL-METER and SOL-REF-Q.

This product comes with a detachable cable with 4 banana plugs for connecting to a measurement device and is CE-compliant.

Sciencetech's wideband detector design comes packaged in a mounting flange compatible with our SPS-300. It is connectorized to be powered directly from the Stanford SR-810/830 type lock-in amplifiers with a detachable cable. The spectral range is limited by window selection. This detector comes with a HDPE window standard.

It could also be used to measure the light power density on a surface (in W/cm2) which is particularly useful for uniformity measurements and for checking solar simulator performance. This detector has a 19mm diameter sensor and picks up all wavelengths between 190-11μm (UV-VIS-IR). Please note that this detector head requires either an external display controller or computer interface (sold separately - see below) to show the measured power.
