A Brief Overview

Spectroscopy is the study of the interaction between matter and radiative energy of different types (electromagnetic, acoustic, ion flux, etc). When we do not specify the nature of the radiative energy, we are talking about optical spectroscopy - the interaction between matter and light.

Historically, spectroscopy originated through the study of visible light dispersed according to its wavelength, by a prism. Later the concept was expanded greatly to include any interaction with radiative energy as a function of its wavelength or frequency.

Modular Spectrometers and Monochromators

A spectrometer separates incoming light by wavelength in order to measure a property of that light. Modular spectrometers allow the user to adjust several facets of their system, such as wavelength range or resolution, to find the best fit for their application.

A monochromator separates incoming light into its component wavelengths, selecting only a very narrow bandwidth of interest to output. Spectrograph separates incoming light into its component wavelengths for recording and analysis.

The 9490 is Sciencetech's second largest monochromator, with a 1m focal length. It can achieve resolutions as high as 0.017nm in its standard "single pass" configuration with a 1200 l/mm grating. Up to twice that resolution is possible with the "double pass" configuration. This model of the 9490 allows the user to switch between the two modes seamlessly by shifting the position of a set of mirrors (easily done by rotating a single knob).
This system includes a single input slit. For additional options and to select the perfect grating(s) for your application, please speak with your Sciencetech technical sales member.
Please see the technical datasheet for more information.

The SciVidi spectroradiometer is an integrated spectrordadiometer system designed to measure bot AC and continuous wave light sources such as solar simulators over a wide spectral range.
The standard SciVidi system includes two spectral dispersion systems with integrated diode array detectors for measuring spectral irradiance from 300-2000nm. The SciVidi is calibrated for spectral irradiance with a Deuterium and calibrated quartz tungsten halogen lamp. The spectroradiometer can measure spectral irradiance in time intervals as short as 500uS and can be synchronized with a TTL pulse. A cosine corrected optical head is connected to the spectroradiometer by a 2m fiber optic.

For a system that meets your specific requirements please contact a Sciencetech technical sales representative.

This is an Echelle Spectrometer designed for diffraction limit operation, that provides a full spectrum coverage without gaps over a tunable 150nm range at a resolution of ~2pm in single pass mode. The spectrometer uses two gratings, two 1.5m f.l. parabolic reflectors and a corrector lens to produce a cross-dispersed echellegram that is recorded on a 3k x 3k cooled CCD camera with 12u pixels, at a dispersion of 1 pm/pixel. The long, thin echellegram is fit to the square CCD format using a 3 section image slicer, to maximize wavelength coverage and resolution.
Input optics include a micrometer adjustable rectangular input slit and a computer controlled source selector that can switch between four available input ports, useful in calibration.
Operational specifications are (for 31.5 l/mm 150x50 mm echelle, single pass)

* Dispersion: 1pm/pixel; (diffraction limit = 1pm)
* Wavelength coverage: 150nm band, position continuously selectable.
No gap coverage up to 800nm. Camera coverage 300nm-900nm.
* Aperture f/25.
* Input slit: rectangular, continuously adjustable 0-500um.
* Source selector to switch between four inputs.
* Calibration facilities for wavelength and intensity.
* Software to transfer raw images to permanent storage at the maximum possible rate, to transform and store as spectra corrected for wavelength & intensity.
Please note that for full frame digitization at 12 bits the transfer rate is 10seconds per frame. Smaller frame sections can be transferred at correspondingly faster rates.
