The Model 230X Chopper can be used inside a vacuum environment. Sciencetech uses this chopper inside its SPS-300 THz spectrometer at 10^-3 Torr by introducing a vacuum grade servo motor and water cooling loop. The chopper is also assembled inside a Class 10,000 clean room (to meet space standards) when this option is selected. With this option, the chopper motor is wrapped in a copper tubing jacket for water cooling. An external water recirculator and tubing hook-up is required. Sciencetech does sell an external water recirculator separately called the Model 160-REC that could be used for this purpose, but requires custom hook-up tubing.
