Broadband Pyro-Electric Infrared Area Detector
SKU: IRFPA

This broadband IR area detector has a sensor size of 320 x 240 pixels and a spectral range of 2-14 μm. The pixel size is 48.5μm square. The sensor is an uncooled pyroelectric BST (Barium, Strontium, Titanate) array developed by Texas Instruments. Because of the nature of pyroelectric sensors, there is an internal Archimedes spiral chopper that recalibrates the image. However, this calibration system, called the Auto Image Calibration (AIC), is actually a benefit for the user. The detector self calibrates itself to a reference 60 times per second which in turn causes the system to be extremely stable and to have very little fixed pattern noise. This detector is compatible with Sciencetech spectrograph models 8010, 9040, 9055, 9057, 9150, 9490 and Sciencetech's 9060 imaging spectrograph. Mating to non-Sciencetech spectrographs is also possible with Sciencetech's custom mount. Please ask for more details.

Uncooled BST Sensor
The detector is based on an uncooled ferroelectric BST array. BST is a ceramic material consisting of barium, strontium and titanium salts. The nominal desired composition is Ba0.66Sr0.34TiO3. Because ferroelectrics retain their electric polarization after application and removal of an electric field, their polarization depends on temperature.

Built-In AD Data Acquisition System
The detector plugs into a computer via a USB 2.0 port. All controls and data downloads are conducted through this USB port and hence Sciencetech's multi-channel data acquisition system is not required. The detector comes with a full featured LabView (additional cost) or Windows XP software application to control it and acquire the data.

Mating with Sciencetech and Non-Sciencetech Spectrometers
The detector is compatible with Sciencetech's 8010, 9040, 9055, 9057, 9150, 9490 model spectrographs as well as Sciencetech's 9060 imaging model spectrograph. For mating with non-Sciencetech spectrographs, Sciencetech can fabricate a custom flange for your application. Sciencetech's SciLDA software is also required. Please ask for details.

Use with Sciencetech SPS-300i Imaging Interferometer
Sciencetech would need to develop a custom flange and special interface with this IR camera to its SPS software for interfacing to its interferometer. This will add some additional cost the base camera.

No Lens
For mating to Sciencetech's imaging FTIR SPS-300i or Sciencetech spectrographs, the detector would be used with the FPA sensor exposed and aligned with the focal plane of the instrument. No camera lens is required.

Built-in Chopper
Because of the nature of pyroelectric sensors, there is an internal Archimedes spiral chopper that recalibrates the image. However, this calibration system, called the Auto Image Calibration (AIC), is actually a benefit for the user. The detector self calibrates itself to a reference 60 times per second which in turn causes the system to be extremely stable and to have very little fixed pattern noise.
