Sciencetech CCD and Linear InGaAs Detector Adjustable Mount Integration

Sciencetech CCD and Linear InGaAs Detector Adjustable Mount - Mount and integration
SKU: 9000M-CCD-AH-WALIGNMENT

Sciencetech offers two types of spectrograph mounts for its CCD and InGaAs Detectors. The fully adjustable mount with backward/forward, and left/right tilt controls is ideal for users who use their spectrographs at many different spectral regions of interest. The reason is that the detector's focal plane left/right tilt angle varies with the spectral region being imaged in scanning spectrograph mode (see Product Details for more info). This adjustable mount assures that the left/right tilt angle will be satisfied in all spectral regions of interest when the scanning spectrograph is set to an extreme turret position. The ability of the adjustable mount to match the detector's focal plane distance and tilt angle also allows it to be used with any Sciencetech spectrograph models except for the Model 8030. If this adjustable mount is selected, a slit at the output port is not required. Optional detector focal plane alignment procedure performed at the factory before shipping can be performed for $450 more.

Angular Tilt
The output focal plane is actually on a slight left/right angular tilt. The amount of tilt depends on the spectrograph model and is generally greater for smaller focal length models. It also varies according to the spectral region of interest, the spectral range of interest, and also the grating being used. For larger monochromators/spectrographs like the 9040, this angular tilt is typically 1-2°. For example, it is 1.68° at 550nm. For standard size monochromators/spectrographs like the 9055, this angular tilt is greater, typically 4-6°. For example, it is 4.0° for 450-6300nm, 5.5° for 200-350nm, and 6.4° for 350-700nm. The beauty of an adjustable tilt detector mount is the ability to match the tilt angle to the spectral region of interest.

When Is Adjustable Tilting Recommended?
In most spectrograph use, a fixed CDD wedge is good enough as the spectral region of interest is usually fixed and the angular tolerance is quite high thus allowing a fixed wedge to be used. If there is more than one spectral region of interest and they are far apart from another or spans over two gratings, several fixed wedge mounts can be purchased as an alternative to this adjustable wedge mount. This tilt angle is usually not that critical due to the high tolerance, but can become critical when viewing an extreme portion of the spectral region. This usually occurs in scanning spectrograph mode, when the turret is rotated to an extreme angular position to cover an extreme spectral position. In such cases where a wide portion of the spectrum is required by a scanning spectrograph, then this adjustable CCD mount is recommended.
