Fiber Input and Output SMA single fiber couplers

Fiber Input and Output SMA single fiber couplers
SKU: F2FMONO9110-SMA

The Model 9010 scanning monochromator can be modified into a fiber to fiber scanning monochromator by replacing its internal spherical mirrors with off-axis parabolic mirrors and using fiber couplers at its input and exit ports. With this modification, single or bundle fibers can be directly mated to both input and output ports of the scanning monochromator for use as a fiber illuminated tunable wavelength light source. This option replaces the older Sciencetech Model 9110 stand alone fiber optic monochromator. Please note this option is only available for the standard f/3.5 mode with 50mm x 50mm gratings.

Fiber Types and Couplers
The input and output port may have either SMA coupler for single fibers, or Sciencetech proprietary bundle coupler for bundle fibers. Please choose which version is appropriate. For tunable light source applications, bundle fibers are recommended due to their larger diameter allowing greater light throughput.

Effect on Focal Length and Aperture
In order to focus the light into the input and output fibers, the existing internal spherical mirrors are replaced with off-axis parabolic mirrors. However, these off-axis parabolic mirrors have a slightly longer focal length of 209mm instead of the standard 200mm of the Model 9010. This ultimately changes the aperture slightly from f/3.5 to f/4.2.

Grating Compatibility
This option is designed for the 50mm x 50mm grating (f/3.5 version) as the parabolic mirror replacements are too small for the high throughput 64mm grating option.

Multi-Channel Fibers
The parabolic mirrors also turns the 9010 scanning monochromator into an imaging monochromator thus allowing it to support multiple fiber channels. Therefore, it is possible to use multiple fiber input and output with this option. However, since the grating and wavelength position must be the same for all channels, this limits the usefulness of this multi fiber channel support.

Micropositioner
Alignment of the output fiber to the input fiber is difficult due to their small illumination cross sections. For this reason, a translating XY micropositioner stage at the output port is used to align the output fiber with the input fiber source.
