MD100-USB USB Interface for MD100

Main Features:

This adapter allows the MD-100 Universal Controller to be plugged into a standard USB port rather than an RS-232 port of a computer. It is actually an adapter that converts the RS-232 cable of the MD-100 Universal controller into a USB cable. A software driver has to be loaded into the Windows based computer, and the configuration file of Sci-Spec or Sci-LDA has to modified. However, no special software coding is required as standard RS-232 commands will operate the MD-100 despite it is being routed through this USB adapter.

This RS232 to USB adapter lets PC users add an additional serial port for RS-232 connections. Universal Serial Bus (USB) port technology has emerged in response to the proliferation of external peripheral devices (scanners, digital cameras, removable drives, etc.), that are increasingly being connected to the latest generation of PCs. USB behaves in a similar fashion to conventional bus ports (i.e., serial, parallel, PS/2), but since it does not require any IRQs, more devices can be attached to the system, and the problem of IRQ conflict is eliminated. The RS232 to USB adapter provides an external plug-and play RS-232 serial connection with your computer. The RS-232 port is assigned the next available Com port number in your computer, such as Com3, Com4, Com5, etc. Users have the capability to utilize the adapter with serial port interface in an easy-to-use environment. The adapter is designed for connections through your USB port with up to 230 kbps data transfer rate. Installation is easy. Simply plug the MD-100into the RS232 to USB adapter and plug the USB port into the computer. No IRQs are needed so there are no IRQ or COM port conflicts. Windows detects a new device, asks for the drivers and then installs them.
