This adjustable temperature cooler is designed to keep a sample from overheating under intense light by placing a water cooling pad underneath it. This water cooling pad not only cools the sample back to room ambient temperature, but also monitors its exact temperature. This cooling system is an external unit designed to dissipate up to 700W of heat through a fan cooled radiator system, which is enough to cool samples illuminated by 1600W solar simulators. The cooler displays the sample's current temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. The temperature of the sample can be adjusted by setting the cooler's internal radiator fan speed which is also displayed in red LED. If the current temperature wanders above a "warning" preset value, an alarm will go off. The cooling pad temperature is monitored by a thermo sensor wire which can be embedded between the cooling pad and the sample itself.
 
Cooling Pad
The cooling pad is made of copper and has a flat 65 x 55mm surface area. Customers may need to create a holder specifically to positioning the sample on top of it. The cooling pad has 11mm diameter input and output water ports. The cooling tubing between the cooling unit and pad is included.
 
Temperature Sensor
The temperature of the sample is monitored by an independent wire sensor that can be embedded between the cooling pad and the sample itself. This wire sensor is connected to the main chassis of the cooling system.
 
Coolant
This cooling system is designed for use with distilled water. Tap water can be corrosive to the plumbing of the cooling system.
 
Radiator System
The system cools the heated water through a fan cooled radiator. There is no chiller to reduce the water coolant temperature below ambient temperature. Hence the coldest temperature attainable is ambient temperature.
 
Sample Preset Temperature
Please note that this cooling system does not have the ability to dynamically alter the water flow rate or radiator cooling fan speed to maintain a sample at a preset temperature. Once the radiator fan speed is set by a knob, so is the thermal heat dissipation rate. The cooling system assumes the thermal cycle reaches steady state where it continuously dissipates the same amount of heat from the sample. If the heat on the sample is not steady but varies, the cooling system will not automatically adjust its heat dissipation rate to compensate. Instead, an alarm will go on indicating that that the sample's temperature is not maintained at the current dissipation setting.

The unit has its own display and controls and does not have a computer control interface.
