This battery powered, hand held device measures ambient illumination in real time and displays the reading on a digital screen in fc or lux. Choose between the two units by using a switch located in the battery compartment. The press of a button turns on the light meter, holding the button holds the reading, and the device automatically turns off after one minute if the button is not pushed. It is calibrated American NIST National Standards and includes a certificate of guarantee that it meets these standards.
