The Dual Deuterium and Quartz Tungsten Halogen (QTH) Light Source consist of a separate 30W deuterium light source and 100W QTH light source in one optical assembly such that the output beam contains light from both sources. By combining the light from both sources simultaneously, the output beam has a very wide broadband spectrum from UV to IR. The combination of the two light sources is possible through the use of a special deuterium lamp that has a hole in its center for the bright QTH light to go through. A special focusing lens collects the light from both lamps. Through the use of an external optical coupler, this combined light source can be collimated into a parallel beam or focused into a fiber bundle.

The Dual Deuterium-Tungsten halogen Light Source QTH-D2 is a complete light source system consisting of:

1. Deuterium and QTH lamp housing
   where a high brightness 30W QTH lamp shines through a special 30W Deuterium lamp that has a 1mm diameter hole in it. Both lamps are powered at the same time, and both focuses to the same point without the use of a motorized flipping mirror for source selection.
2. High-Brightness Deuterium Lamp (DHB-30)
