When the high speed shutter is used externally or not in conjunction with a Sciencetech detector, this external RS-232 controller is recommended as it allows the shutter to be directly controlled via a PC computer's RS-232 serial port. Please note that this controller option is not recommended when the shutter is used with a Sciencetech detector as the detector's data acquisition board already has a built-in shutter interface.
