Sciencetech has a position available for an industrial post doctoral R&D fellowship to work consistently within the requirements of the program from the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). In accordance with the NSERC program the position is for two years with the possibility of continued full time employment thereafter.
Sciencetech Inc. is a wholly Canadian Corporation in the business of designing and manufacturing instrumentation for new developments in optical spectroscopy. Our work is in the fields of Optics, Electro-Optics and Opto-Mechanics for medical, industrial and scientific applications. The Company celebrated its XXV Anniversary of operations in London, Ontario on September 28th, 2010.
The candidate must be near completion or have completed a Ph.D. Program in Physics, Analytical Chemistry, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, preferably with some background in Optical Instrumentation, Experimental Physics or Engineering Physics. Experience with instrumentation for the UV/VIS/NIR and optical design is a very important asset.
Job Description:
Sciencetech (SCI) is in the business of designing and manufacturing new systems in Optical Spectroscopy. These new systems are typically requested by the global academic research community for the measurements of some of the parameters in their specific fields of research (Medical, Astronomy, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, Pharmacology, Environment, Food Industry, Defense, Material Research, Biotechnology etc.).
The candidate will be working with these researchers to define the spectroscopic system required (when possible using the SCI spectroscopic building blocks) and then, with SCI engineers and scientists to design and manufacture the system required, ensuring to meet the technical goals as detailed by the researcher.
During the past 26 years Sciencetech has developed many hundreds of systems this way opening new markets and research possibilities. The candidate will conduct a combination of technical research and customer support tasks. He will have the assistance of the present SCI scientific and engineering staff and also the scientific knowledge from some local universities as typically SCI organizes with the help of the NRC and other official organizations.
The tasks are therefore a combination of scientific and coordination activities. The skills required combine scientific background and considerable teamwork, that may extend overseas.
The candidates must be Canadian Citizens or have Landed Immigrant Status.
This full time position will be held at Sciencetech’s main facilities, 1450 Global Drive London, Ontario, N6N, 1R3. Tel (519) 644-0135, FAX (519) 644-0136. Good references on habits and working ethics are very important.
