Sciencetech has designed a Highly Collimated Solar Simulator for the purpose of photovoltaic testing. This new solar simulator, Model SSxxKW-Xe-Fr, with 1.0kW, 1.6kW and 2.4kW versions, can illuminate fields up to 300mm (12") diameter at a 1 SUN level. It uses a Fresnel lens to image the arc of a Xenon lamp to infinity and produce a highly collimated beam, plus a spatial filter for uniformity. The spectral distribution of the xenon light source is adjusted using specially designed Air Mass filters to closely simulate the sun's true spectral distribution for various conditions on Earth
